After two years of battling the COVID pandemic, the 2021 extreme winter weather, and all the collateral damage that has occurred, the determination and bravery of every Texan is proof that we can overcome every obstacle that life throws at us. This is especially true for the electric utilities, contractors, vendors and the families that support them. Although we still must battle COVID, we believe that it is time to get the Rodeo started up again and show the world that the best, most talented Linemen are in the great state of Texas.
The Texas Lineman’s Rodeo Association has never lost sight of the importance of being there for all the electric utility industry and all the brave men and women who keep the lights on and Texas connected to the world. During the pandemic, the TLRA Board continued to work together to provide the scholarships to graduating high school seniors to the tune of $20,000, supported storm restoration crews going to assist in power restoration during the 2021 hurricane season and provided special edition shirts to the utilities that participated in the 2019 Rodeo.
Now is the time to get the rodeo started again. The Board and Advisory Committee are actively planning the event. It is our intent that on July 16th, at GBRA’s Nolte Island Park, the TLRA will be hosting the 2022 Texas Lineman’s Rodeo. Currently, we are actively planning a golf tournament on Thursday, July 14th to help support the TLRA scholarship fund. On Friday, July 15th, we will have on-site registration, and the fish fry. Then on Saturday morning, just after daylight hold the rodeo competition. After the competition, we plan to have an event meal prior to the awards ceremony.
We remind everyone that if it were not for the support of the utilities, sponsors, vendors and volunteers, the Texas Lineman’s Rodeo would not be possible. It is because of their unwavering dedication and support that we can provide a low-cost competition with the many benefits that exceed the registration fees the utility pays for their teams and apprentices.
You all are in our prayers that God continues to Bless every one of you and your families and keep you safe and healthy.
